FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Will I really be able to complete a painting in the time allowed? What if I have never painted before?

Yes, the artist will have your painting taught within the two-hour time frame so that you will always leave with a completed painting. Acrylic paint dries very quick so your painting will be dry and ready for transport when you are. If you don’t finish your painting, we have Open Studio times available during the month that you can come back and complete it. The Wild Heart Studio was created for people without any painting experience!

No painting experience is needed! Only requirement is to have a positive attitude and brush off any negative. Our teaching artist will guide you from start to finish of the session's featured painting, allowing you to relax and create.

But, I can't even draw a straight line!

Great! That means that you are right brained and therefore creative! You already have a head start on becoming a master painter!

What if I want to change the colors of the painting?
You are always welcome to change the colors! You are even welcome to interpret the painting in your own way. It's your art! Pick something that matches your decor. Or, maybe you are coming with a roommate or significant other and don't want to do the exact same painting. We will be happy to help you with this!

Do I have to Paint what the Class is Painting?

We ask that you do. If you want to free paint, we suggest the less expensive Open Studio sessions. It is confusing for the other painters if one person in our small classes is painting something different than the rest of the group, and the teacher cannot help you during class if you are painting your own design.

Is there an Age Limit?

Yes, but only for regularly scheduled events. We will occassionally have kid’s specific classes, but the normal public classes require that you be at least 15 years old to attend. Anyone under 18 must attend with an adult. Each must be a paying customer of the class. For private parties, there is no age limit.

Do I need a reservation?

Yes! We take reservations and walk-ins (if there is room), but we strongly urge you to pay online because most classes are limited to 12. Seating is first come first serve as you arrive, so arrive early enough to get seats with your friends. You can use a credit card through our website or call the studio and register by phone.

Will we be notified if an event is canceled?
Yes. We require a minimum number of painters to open our studio. Registrants will be notified 24 hours in advance to reschedule IF we need to cancel (this rarely happens). We also reserves the right to cancel public events due to bad weather. Notification will be sent at least 4 hours prior to the event and participants will have the option to reschedule. You will NOT be charged for canceled events due to low participation or weather.

Can we bring food?

Yes, feel free to bring in your favorite snacks, appetizers, catering, etc. There is plenty of table space for food and drinks as needed. We do ask that you clean up after yourself! We also provide the plates, napkins, and silverware. We have a Keurig style hot drink maker available, as well.

Can I bring my own wine?

Yes, you can bring your favorite beverage of choice: beer, wine, soda or water. We will provide plastic cups and the corkscrew! You must be 21 years of age to consume alcohol. We do not sell food or beverages. We do ask that you clean up after yourself!

What else should I bring?

We provide all the supplies, you just show up with a willing spirit, some courage, and perhaps some quarters! Tera will ask you to put a quarter in a donation bin for a local animal charity for every time you speak negatively about yourself during her classes!

Can I bring my own materials?
Absolutely, you may bring any art supplies you’d like (such as canvas or brushes); however, the fee is still same for the class, however.

When should I arrive on the day of my class?

We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time of your class. This will enable you to get settled, get a drink and be ready when we start to paint promptly at the start time!

How much does it cost?

Our classes are $30 - $45, depending on the surface we are painting on, and the difficulty of the class. Classes run 2 - 3 hours. Open studio sessions (where you bring your own project, and get our help, and use our regular supplies) are $25.00.

What is included in the fee?

All art supplies including canvas, paint, brushes and smock are included in your fee. In addition, our classes include  instruction from one of our awesome artists (Open classes do not come with instruction – artists are available to answer questions). Canvas size is 16 x 20” unless otherwise indicated.

How long is a class? Classes last approximately 2 or 3 hours depending on the project you choose.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made at a minimum 48 hours in advance of your scheduled class. If you do not show up for class or cancel within 48 hours, the fee is non-refundable. If you notify us 48 hours in advance, we will give you a credit to use for another class within 90 days.

What should I wear to a painting class?

Wear something comfortable enough to paint in and something you do not mind getting a little paint on!  We provide aprons for everyone to wear while they paint but the paint may not come out of clothing.

What is Open Studio?
We offer Open Studio time in our studio first come-first served. Come on in and enjoy painting at your own pace. For $25 you have access to all of our supplies for as long as you want, without the instruction, but with help from our staff.
